ITU North Cyprus is a state university established by a special law which has a vision of modern, contemporary and innovative education and it aims to provide students with the same educational and training standards with Istanbul Technical University which has over 240 years of experience in education and training.

ITU North Cyprus is located in the city of Famagusta and have been admitting students into three departments. These are Marine Engineering, Maritime Transportation Management Engineering and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering since 2011. In the forthcoming years, the university aims to provide undergraduate education in several other fields. English is the language of instruction at ITU North Cyprus. Students will complete one year in the English Preparatory School and four years of undergraduate education.

The students who graduate from ITU North Cyprus receive the diploma of Istanbul Technical University with all its rights and privileges. ITU is the cradle of science, industry and technology conducting over 200 R&D projects in the scope of ARI Teknokent. In cooperation with the entrepreneurship ecosystem ITU Seed, the university provides support to students-entrepreneurs.

Application Principles:

  • The application principles, dates, required documents/certificates that are set by the Senate and the quotas that have been approved by the Council of Higher Education will be published on the website of the University according to the academic calendar.
  • The applications will be accepted online via the website of University between the dates declared.
  • Maximum 3 preferences for programs will be accepted and the placement shall be made in the order the applicant stated.

Required Documents / Certificates:

  • A Certified copy of High School Diploma or in case of applicants who have not graduated yet, a certified copy of an official document taken from their high school stating the expected graduation date.
  • Original and certified Turkish or English translation of the document stating average graduation grades.
  • Original or certified copy of examination results
  • Copy of passport.

Costs and Scholarships

Studying at ITU North Cyprus is subject to a fee. The annual tuition fee for English Preparatory classes and undergraduate programmes for the 2017-2018 academic year is 7.500 USD (VAT included) for international students. Apart from the tuition fee, students – whether they have scholarships or not – are required to pay 1000 TL to cover the cost of books for the English Preparatory School, fees for student general expenses and activities, and for the health stamp. Accommodation and transportation fees are not included in the tuition fees (Please contact us for further information). The payments for the specified annual tuition fee can be paid in two installments (50% for each term). If there should be an increase in the amount of the tuition to be paid, the increase will not be more than 10% for students already undergoing their studies. The completion of annual tuition payments should be done on the payment dates stated in the Academic Calendar and any late payments are subject to a penalty. The stated fees are not applicable for Summer School Programmes. Scholarships awarded to students are unrequited and continue for maximum 5 years including a-four-year normal education period and one year period in English Preparatory School as long as the student is successful. The scholarship will be suspended if the student’s CGPA is below 2.00. The student loses his/her scholarship and must pay the normal tuition fee until s/he gets a CGPA of 2.00.

The student scholarship, including compulsory preparatory classes, covers the following: Full scholarship covers the total tuition fee; 75% scholarship covers three-fourths of the total tuition fee; 50% scholarship covers half of the total tuition fee. The students awarded partial scholarships pay the rest of the tuition fee (excluding the optional preparatory classes).


The students who will study at our university can stay in the private halls of residence/dormitories close to the campus in Famagusta. Dormitories provide 24 hours of security, 24 hours of private doctor and nurse on-call, restaurants, guest rooms, study rooms, a fitness center and mini-markets.

Student Life

All kinds of social, cultural, sports and artistic activities, field trips, seminars, conferences and social responsibility projects are organized for our university students with the aim of contributing to their personal and professional development. Also, “Student Clubs” are founded with respect to the demands and interests of students.

Besides Marine Sports Club activities (scuba diving, boat diving, underwater photography, surfing and sailing), music club, photography club, speaking club, electronic games club and sporting activities (basketball, football) are carried out. At the beginning of each academic year, new clubs are established and club activities are organized according to the students’ personal preferences and interests.

Basketball and volleyball courts are available on campus for our students to spend their leisure time. In addition, a fitness room with a variety of cardio equipment, the student activity room and Self-Access Learning Centre are available on campus.

Social and cultural trips all around North Cyprus and Turkey are organized all year round for our students. Besides, students take part in Social Responsibility Projects in order to improve their cultural, social and environmental awareness.
