ITU North Cyprus

ITU North Cyprus, which is a state university with a special law, has a vision for modern, contemporary and innovative education, and aims to provide students with the same educational and training standards as Istanbul Technical University, which has over 245 years of experience in education and training.

ITU North Cyprus is located in the city of Famagusta and has been admitting students to its undergraduate programs, which are Marine Engineering, Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering since 2011. ITU North Cyprus has also started to offer master’s program in Business Administration (MBA) since 2020. In the forthcoming years, the university aims to open more undergraduate programs in various other fields. The medium of education at ITU North Cyprus is English. Students will complete one year in the English Preparatory School and then four years in an undergraduate program.

The students who graduate from ITU North Cyprus will receive the diploma of Istanbul Technical University with all its rights and privileges. ITU is the cradle of science, industry and technology conducting over 200 R&D projects within ARI Teknokent. In cooperation with the entrepreneurship ecosystem ITU Seed, the university also provides support to students-entrepreneurs.

  1. Application Procedure:
  • The application procedure, dates, required documents/certificates that are approved by the Senate and the quotas that have been approved by the Council of Higher Education will be announced on the University website on the date stated in the academic calendar.
  • The applications will be accepted online via the University website on the dates stated.
  • Maximum 3 preferences for programs will be accepted and the placement will be made in the order the applicant stated.
  1. Required Documents:
  • A certified copy of a high school diploma, or in case of applicants who have not graduated yet, a certified copy of an official document taken from their high school stating the expected graduation date.
  • Original or certified Turkish or English translation of the document stating average graduation grades.
  • Original or certified copy of an examination result that is being used for the application.
  • A copy of applicant’s passport.

Fees and Scholarships

In addition to tuition fee, students – whether they have scholarships or not – are required to pay 1500 TL to cover the cost of books for the English Preparatory School, fees for student general expenses and activities, and for the health stamp. Accommodation and transportation fees are not included in the tuition fees (Please contact us for further information). The payments for the specified annual tuition fee can be paid in two installments (50% for each term). Should there be an increase in the amount of the tuition fee, that increase will not be more than 10% for students who are continuing their studies. The completion of annual tuition payments should be done on the payment dates stated in the Academic Calendar and any late payments are subject to a penalty. Scholarships awarded to students are unrequited and continue for maximum 5 years including a-four-year normal education period and one year period in English Preparatory School as long as the student is successful.

 

Accommodation

The students who will study at our university can stay in a private residence or a dormitory of their own choice close to the campus in Famagusta. Dormitories provide 24 hours of security, 24 hours of private doctor and nurse on-call, restaurants, guest rooms, study rooms, fitness centers and mini-markets.

 

Student Life

All kinds of social, cultural, sports and art activities, field trips, seminars, conferences and social responsibility projects are organized for our university students with the aim of contributing to their personal and professional development. Also, “Student Clubs” are founded with respect to the demands and interests of students. Marine Sports Club activities (scuba diving, boat diving, underwater photography, surfing and sailing), search & rescue club, archery club, music club, photography club, speaking club, electronic games club and sporting activities (basketball, football) are just some of these student clubs and activities . At the beginning of each academic year, new clubs are established and club activities are organized according to the students’ personal preferences and interests.

Basketball and volleyball courts are available on the campus for our students to spend their leisure time. In addition, a fitness room with a variety of cardio equipments, the student activity room and Self-Access Learning Centre are available on the campus.

Social and cultural trips in North Cyprus and to Turkey are organized all year round for our students. Besides, students take part in Social Responsibility Projects in order to improve their cultural, social and environmental awareness.
